Heiwadai Park is best known for its tall Peace Tower, a stone monument built before World War II and later reframed as a symbol of peace. The park is spacious and leafy, with paths that make it a good break from the city streets.
Look for the Haniwa Garden, where hundreds of clay figures stand among the trees. They echo the figures once placed around ancient burial mounds, and they give the park a strange, memorable character.
