Tanesashi Coast is the strongest reason to give Hachinohe a spare day. The shore opens into grassy lawns, rock shelves, fishing coves, and pale sand, with the Pacific pushing hard against the edge of northern Honshu.
The coast is part of Sanriku Fukko National Park and the Michinoku Shiokaze Trail. You can walk short pieces from the Hachinohe Line stations, or make a longer coastal day with the Tanesashi Coast Information Center as a practical base.
