Saisho-in is best known for its five-storey pagoda, completed in 1667. At just over 31 metres, it is one of Hirosaki's most elegant historic structures and a good counterpoint to the castle and Zen temple district.
The temple sits south of the main castle area, close enough to include on a wider walk through central Hirosaki.
