Miyagi Zao Fox Village is unusual enough to be one of Shiroishi's main reasons to appear on travel maps. Foxes move around a large fenced enclosure, and in snowy weather the place has a surreal, photogenic quality.
It is also a managed animal attraction, not a wild encounter. Go with clear expectations, check transport carefully, and skip it if captive-animal settings are not your thing.
