Miyagi Zao Kokeshi Museum

Large kokeshi doll museum focused on Togatta and other regional styles.

Miyagi Zao Kokeshi Museum holds thousands of kokeshi, the simple wooden dolls associated with Tohoku hot-spring towns and craft villages. The collection focuses on the local Togatta style but also shows how forms, faces, and painted details vary across the region.

The museum pairs naturally with Shiroishi's other kokeshi stops and the Zao area. It is most interesting if artisans are demonstrating or if you already have some curiosity about Japanese folk crafts.
