Kamo Aquarium is Tsuruoka's oddest crowd-puller, and it earns the attention. Its jellyfish collection is among the largest in the world, with tanks designed to make drifting moon jellies, sea nettles, and stranger species look almost weightless.
The famous "Jellyfish Dream House" tank is the highlight, but the aquarium is not just a photo stop. It sits by the coast, has ordinary marine exhibits too, and even leans into the theme with jellyfish ramen and jellyfish ice cream.
