Hottai Falls is Yurihonjo's strongest natural sight short of climbing Mount Chokai. The waterfall drops through a forested valley in the Chokai district, with picnic space and a short trail that makes it a good target for travellers who want scenery without a full mountain day.
Access is seasonal. In winter the upper road and facilities can be difficult or closed, which turns the visit into a snow-country outing rather than an ordinary drive-up stop.
