One Thousand Jizo is a small hillside stop near Ouchi, where rows of stone figures climb from the roadside into the trees. It is modest in scale, but it has the kind of local atmosphere that rewards a slow road trip through rural Akita.
The visit is short. Pair it with the Akata Giant Buddha or Iwaki's history museum rather than making a special journey for this alone.
