Aisha Bibi Mausoleum is the single most memorable sight around Taraz. The 11th- or 12th-century tomb stands west of the city in Aisha Bibi village, its surface covered in fine terracotta panels with floral, geometric, and calligraphic patterns. Much of what you see is restored, but the building still has the delicacy that made it famous across Kazakhstan.
Local tradition links it to Aisha Bibi and Karakhan, lovers separated by death and reunited in Taraz's sacred geography. Whether you take the story literally or not, the site has become a place for wedding parties, prayers, and quiet visits. The smaller Babaji Khatun Mausoleum stands nearby and is usually visited at the same time.
