Chimney Museum

The Chimney is Labuan's oddest landmark: a 32-metre brick stack from the coal-mining era at Tanjung Kubong. It looks like it should have an obvious industrial purpose, but historians still argue whether it was a ventilation shaft, a smelting chimney, a kiln, a signal tower, or something else.

The small museum beside it gives the useful background on Labuan's 19th-century coal industry and the British North Borneo period. The visit is short, but the mystery gives the site more bite than a simple relic usually has.
