Canopy Walkway

The canopy walkway is the park's most visited attraction, and for good reason — it puts you at eye level with the rainforest canopy, a completely different world from the dark forest floor below. At 530 metres long and suspended up to 40 metres above the ground on a series of rope bridges connecting ancient trees, the walkway offers views across an unbroken sea of green, with the occasional flash of a hornbill or the crashing movement of a troop of monkeys.

The walkway is a short hike from the park headquarters at Kuala Tahan, typically done in the morning when wildlife is most active. Arrive early — the walkway operates on a one-way system and queues can build up. You will need to walk back through the forest to the starting point. Allow two to three hours for the walk out and back.

A story
At 530 metres long and suspended up to 40 metres above the forest floor, Taman Negara's canopy walkway was for years the longest in the world. It is still among the most impressive — a series of rope bridges connecting trees along a ridge, swaying gently as you walk. The walkway opens early in the morning, when hornbills and gibbons are most active overhead.
