Kuramathi Island

The two-kilometre resort island next door — long natural sandbank and good reef

Kuramathi is the longest island in the Rasdhoo atoll group, about two kilometres of palm-covered sand a few minutes' panga ride from Rasdhoo village. It is operated as a single resort, but day visits from Rasdhoo guesthouses can sometimes be arranged for the reef snorkelling and the long natural sandbank that extends west from the island at low tide.

For Rasdhoo guests the practical interest of Kuramathi is its reef — one of the more accessible drift snorkels in the area, with healthy hard coral and reliable turtle and reef-shark sightings. Independent travellers cannot land on Kuramathi without a day pass arranged by their guesthouse; respect resort boundaries, since landing without permission has caused friction in the past.
