Machchangolhi is the smallest of Malé's four traditional districts, occupying the south-central part of the island between Galolhu and the southern waterfront. It is a quiet, mostly residential area with a few small mosques and the older neighbourhood schools.
Visitors generally pass through Machchangolhi on the way between the airport ferry quay on the southern shore and the historic centre in Henveiru, without stopping. There is little to draw a tourist in, but if you want to see what an unposed Malé street looks like, this is one of the easier places to find it.
