Khovd Aimag Museum

The Khovd Aimag Museum is the regional museum for western Mongolia, a small two-storey building with a serious anthropological collection covering the seventeen ethnic groups of the province — Khalkha, Kazakh, Torguud, Zakhchin, Uriankhai, and others. Each gets a costumed display with traditional dress, jewellery, household objects, and musical instruments.

The natural history rooms include stuffed snow leopards, ibex, and saiga, and a small palaeontology corner with dinosaur fragments from the Altai. Hours are erratic — typically 09:00 to 17:00, closed Sundays — and the entry fee is small. English signage is limited; consider hiring a local guide for a richer visit.
