Maungmagan is Dawei's classic beach escape, close enough for an easy half-day from town. It has a long local history as a seaside retreat and still feels more domestic than resort-driven, with palm huts and family seafood restaurants along the sand.
The beach is not the wildest on the peninsula, but it is the practical one. Come for sunset, grilled seafood, and a first taste of the coast before deciding whether to push farther south.
