Like most towns in the Shan Hills, Pindaya has an itinerant market that moves from town to town on a five-day rotation. When the market is in Pindaya, hill tribe communities from the surrounding villages come down to sell and trade — Danu, Pa-O, and sometimes Shan vendors bring produce, clothing, and craft goods. The market is a genuinely local event rather than a tourist attraction, and it gives the town a different energy on those days.
Check locally when the market falls during your visit — the five-day cycle doesn't align with the Western week, so the day varies. The market sets up in the central area of town and is typically busiest in the morning.
