Dhulikhel is 30 km east of Kathmandu on the Araniko Highway. Buses and minibuses leave regularly from the Ratna Park bus station in central Kathmandu and from the New Bus Park at Gongabu; the journey takes 1–1.5 hours depending on traffic. Shared taxis from Koteshwar (on the eastern edge of Kathmandu's ring road) are faster and not much more expensive. A private taxi from Thamel takes about 45 minutes and costs around NPR 1,500–2,000.
