The ridge above Dhulikhel offers one of the finest high-mountain panoramas in the Kathmandu Valley — arguably better than Nagarkot because the arc of peaks is wider and the town below is more interesting. On a clear morning, the range sweeps from Ganesh Himal in the west through Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, and Gauri Shankar to the distant Numbur group in the east. Melungtse, a rarely climbed peak on the Tibet border, is visible on good days. The best light is at sunrise, when the snows turn amber before the valley fills with haze.
