The Manaslu Circuit is a demanding 14–18 day trek that circles the world's eighth-highest mountain (8,163 m), passing through remote Buddhist villages and over the Larkya La pass at 5,160 metres. It requires a restricted area permit and a licensed guide, which limits visitor numbers and keeps the trail far quieter than the Annapurna Circuit. Gorkha is one of the common starting points for the circuit, and the trek passes through the traditional Gurung and Tibetan-influenced Nubri communities in the upper valleys.
The circuit crosses dramatically varied terrain — subtropical forest, high alpine meadows and glacier moraine — and the mountain views throughout the upper section are outstanding. Independent trekking is not permitted; you must be part of a group with a registered guide and agency.
