OR2K is an Israeli-influenced vegetarian restaurant in Thamel that has been popular since the late 1990s with the Israeli backpacker community and anyone else looking for fresh mezze, hummus, falafel, and Middle Eastern salads in a city dominated by South Asian and Italian options. The food is consistently good: the hummus is properly made, the shakshuka is substantial, and the fruit shakes are excellent.
The rooftop seating area with cushions and low tables is the most comfortable part of the restaurant. It fills quickly in the evenings; go before 7pm or be prepared to wait. This is a good option for vegetarians who find the standard Nepali menu limiting.
