Kathmandu's sights cluster in three main areas: the old city around Durbar Square and the Asan market, the Buddhist world of Boudhanath and Pashupatinath in the east, and the hilltop of Swayambhunath to the west. UNESCO World Heritage Site status covers seven monument zones in the valley, though the 2015 earthquake damaged many structures and rebuilding is ongoing. Plan at least two full days to cover the main sights; three is better.
