Phidim's main bazaar is a lively strip of shops, tea stalls, and small restaurants serving as the commercial hub for the surrounding villages. The mix of Limbu, Magar, Rai, and Brahmin traders gives it a more cosmopolitan feel than most hill towns of similar size. You will find everything from fresh cardamom and large cardamom (a regional cash crop) to practical mountain gear and local raksi.
Market days draw villagers from hours away across the district, and the crowd watching and the smell of grilling snacks make it one of the more enjoyable bazaars in eastern Nepal. The nearby Phewa River confluence, a short walk below the market, is a pleasant spot to sit in the late afternoon.
