Teenda Viewpoint

Teenda (also spelled Tinda or Chowki Tinda) is a small town about six kilometres from Kotli, linked by a paved road, and its main value to the visitor is the government rest house and the viewpoint over the Poonch River valley. From the elevated position above the river, the valley spreads out below in a wide panorama of terraced fields, scattered villages and the forested ridges beyond. In the clear winter months, the view extends to higher snowcapped peaks to the north.

The rest house at Teenda can be booked through government channels for an overnight stay, which is the best way to see the valley at dawn when the light is clearest. Day visits are possible and the short drive from Kotli is pleasant in itself — the road passes through typical Azad Kashmir hill scenery of terraced slopes and stone farmhouses.
