Tatta Pani Hot Springs

Sulfur hot springs on the Poonch River

Forty-five kilometers from Rawalakot on the Hajira road, sulfur-rich hot springs emerge from the ground and flow into the Poonch River at about 680 meters elevation. Water temperatures reach roughly 86 degrees Celsius in summer and 65 degrees in winter — hot enough that you should be careful near the source.

The springs have been used for bathing for generations, and locals believe the sulfur water has healing properties. The riverside setting is attractive, though facilities are basic. The drive from Rawalakot passes through the Poonch River valley, which has its own scenic stretches worth stopping for.
