Getting There

D.I. Khan has a small domestic airport about 10 kilometres from the city centre, with connections to Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. Pakistan International Airlines and some regional carriers serve the route.

By road, D.I. Khan is connected to Peshawar and Kohat via the N-55 Indus Highway, and to Punjab via the Chashma Barrage bridge. Bus services run between the city and Peshawar, Bannu, and other major centres in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The journey to Peshawar takes around four to five hours. Minibuses and shared taxis connect D.I. Khan to the surrounding district.

The security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has improved in recent years but check current conditions before travelling; D.I. Khan is at the edge of the formerly tribal areas and has experienced sectarian violence in the past. Foreign visitors should register with local authorities and travel with a reliable local contact where possible.
