The main traditional market of Hyderabad, north of the old city centre. Shahi Bazaar (Royal Market) has been the commercial heart of Sindh's second city for centuries. It is particularly known for Sindhi craft goods: ajrak (block-printed shawls in deep blue and red), lacquered furniture, embroidered textiles, Sindhi topi (the distinctive embroidered cap), and bangles.
Hyderabad is famous throughout Pakistan for its glass bangles, and the bangle market in and around Shahi Bazaar is one of the best places to see them made and sold. The narrow lanes of the bazaar are noisy and dense with goods; go in the morning when the heat is manageable. Bargaining is expected.
