By rail: Jacobabad Junction is on the main railway line between Karachi and Quetta, and trains stop here regularly. The journey from Karachi takes around 8 hours; from Quetta, about 6 hours. The railway is the most practical way to arrive, particularly given the heat, which makes road travel in summer genuinely unpleasant.
By air: PAF Base Shahbaz, on the eastern edge of the city, has an IATA code (JAG) and occasionally handles domestic flights, but civilian service is irregular. Check current schedules with PIA — service operates when it operates.
By road: Jacobabad sits at the junction of the N-55 highway (the Indus Highway) and roads connecting to Quetta. The road north to Sukkur and south toward Hyderabad is straightforward. Travel at night in summer if you must drive — the daytime heat is not merely uncomfortable, it is dangerous.
