GT Road Dhabas

The string of dhabas along the Grand Trunk Road through Kamra is the town's primary dining infrastructure. These open-fronted restaurants with plastic chairs and communal tables serve the same basic menu: daal, roti, karahi, and chai. Prices are low — a full meal with bread and tea rarely costs more than a few hundred rupees.

The best dhabas are the busy ones, recognisable by the crowd of truck drivers stopped outside. High turnover means fresher food and a more active kitchen. Most operate from early morning through late night to accommodate the road traffic. There is no single standout establishment — the quality is broadly similar, and the busiest one at any given moment is usually the best bet.
