Mohatta Palace Museum

Built in 1927 for a wealthy Hindu merchant, Mohatta Palace is one of Karachi's most striking buildings — a fusion of Rajasthani and Mughal styles rendered in pale pink Jodhpur sandstone and local yellow stone. After Partition it served variously as a government residence and was at one point home to Fatima Jinnah. Today it functions as a museum and cultural venue, with rotating exhibitions of Pakistani art alongside a permanent collection reflecting the palace's layered history.

The interior is worth the modest entry fee: carved balconies, ornate arched windows, and cool tiled rooms that feel mercifully removed from the city outside. The surrounding garden is one of the tidier green spaces in Clifton, making it a pleasant place to linger. Go on a weekday morning to have the rooms largely to yourself; weekends attract school groups and families. Photography is permitted in most areas.
