The Shepherds' Fields lie east of Bethlehem around Beit Sahour, where Christian tradition places the angelic announcement of Jesus' birth to shepherds. Several chapels and cave sites serve pilgrims, with the landscape still open enough to imagine fields beyond the town.
It is best visited as part of the Bethlehem pilgrimage circuit after Manger Square and the Church of the Nativity. The modern chapels vary in style, but the enduring appeal is the combination of scripture, stone caves, olive trees, and the ridge-top views back toward Bethlehem.
