A short tricycle ride from Caticlan, the Motag Living Museum is a community-run effort in barangay Motag to preserve and demonstrate the rural skills of mainland Aklan. Visitors are taken through a working village setting where local farmers and weavers show traditional rice planting and harvesting, coconut processing, mat-making from buri palm, and the cooking of native dishes.
It is not a polished tourist attraction — the appeal is precisely that everything is genuine. Half-day visits include a meal of local Aklanon food. The project gives back to the village through its proceeds and offers a counterpoint to the polished resorts across the water on Boracay.
