Getting to Baler from Manila takes around five hours by bus on a good day, longer if the mountain roads are congested or wet. Victory Liner operates regular services from Cubao and Pasay bus terminals. The road climbs through the Sierra Madre mountains on the way to the Pacific coast — the scenery is dramatic but the switchbacks are not for the easily carsick; take the aisle seat and keep your eyes on the horizon.
There is no airport at Baler. The nearest airstrip is at Casiguran, further north along the coast, but it has no scheduled services.
By private car the route is roughly via Cabanatuan and Baler proper via the western Sierra Madre highway (the Pantabangan–Carranglan approach). Allow six hours from Manila including traffic out of the metro.
