Maria Cristina Falls is Iligan's landmark: a high, powerful drop on the Agus River, split near the lip by a rock that gives it the classic twin-falls shape in many photos. It is also part of the hydroelectric system that supplies power to much of Mindanao, so it feels more controlled than wild.
Check locally before going, because visitor access can depend on power-plant operations and security rules. Even with those limits, it is the waterfall that explains why Iligan's identity is tied so closely to moving water.
