The dining scene in Mandaluyong is largely concentrated in the malls. Both SM Megamall and Shangri-La Plaza have extensive food floors covering Filipino, Japanese, Korean, and international cuisines. For something outside the mall environment, the side streets off Shaw Boulevard and Pioneer have local carinderias (Filipino canteen restaurants) serving rice meals, kare-kare, and sinigang at very low prices.
