Bonifacio Global City

Manila's newest business and lifestyle district, built on the former Fort Bonifacio military base

Bonifacio Global City (BGC) is Manila's most recent reinvention: a planned mixed-use district built from scratch on the 240-hectare former Fort Bonifacio military base, which the Philippines acquired from the United States in 1995. The result is the cleanest, most walkable, and most internationally minded neighbourhood in Metro Manila — wide tree-lined boulevards, public art, parks, and an almost complete absence of jeepneys and traffic chaos.

The High Street area has the densest concentration of restaurants, with good options across Filipino, Japanese, Korean, and European cuisines. The Bonifacio High Street and Market! Market! malls are large but less overwhelming than those in Makati. The area is also home to the Ayala Museum and several good gallery spaces. BGC is useful as a base for visitors who want somewhere genuinely walkable and safe; it lacks the authentic Manila chaos that some travelers seek, but delivers comfort and good eating reliably.
