The Marikina River Park is an 11-kilometre ribbon of green running along the western bank of the Marikina River — an unusual luxury in a Metro Manila city. The park is wide and well-maintained, with paved cycling and walking paths, exercise areas, picnic grounds, and viewpoints over the river. The city invested heavily in flood management and riverside cleanup after Typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) devastated the area in 2009, and the park is partly a result of those efforts.
The best stretch for a walk or bike ride is between the Riverbanks Center commercial complex and the Marikina Bridge to the north. On weekends, the park fills with local families, joggers, and cyclists, which makes it a good place to observe the city at leisure. Bike rentals are available near the entrance points. The river itself is visibly cleaner than most Manila waterways, though swimming is not advised.
