Baliangao Wetland Park

Mangrove park and white-sand beach on the province's northern coast

Baliangao, at the northern tip of Misamis Occidental, has the most rewarding stretch of beach in the province: a long bar of white sand on the seaward side of a protected mangrove area, reached by a wooden boardwalk through the trees. The water is clear, the reef is alive, and the village atmosphere is unhurried.

The Baliangao Wetland Park is the formal name for the protected area, and the cottages and small homestays here are the standard base for a weekend trip from Oroquieta or Ozamiz. Snorkelling gear is rentable on the beach; boats can be hired for trips to the offshore sandbars at low tide.
