Oroquieta City

Provincial capital and centre for inland excursions

Oroquieta is the seat of the provincial government and the quietest of the three Misamis Occidental cities — a low-rise grid of streets fronting the Mindanao Sea, with the provincial capitol and a long seaside park as the main public spaces. It is the natural base for trips inland into the hilly municipalities of Lopez Jaena and Plaridel.

On the south side of the city, the Oroquieta City Agro-Marine Park has a small zoo, mangrove boardwalks, and the long crocodile farm that is one of the most-promoted local attractions. The City Plaza and the Holy Trinity Cathedral give the centre its formal face.
