Museo El Deposito takes its name from the Spanish water depot (deposito) that stood on this site and was the target of the 1896 Katipunan attack. The original deposit was a critical piece of colonial infrastructure — it supplied water to much of Manila — and attacking it was both a practical and symbolic act of defiance.
The museum interprets the site's history and its connection to the Philippine Revolution, with a focus on the physical history of the water infrastructure and the battle that destroyed it. It sits very close to the Museo ng Katipunan and the Pinaglabanan Shrine, making it a natural part of any visit to the complex.
