Museo ng Katipunan

The Museo ng Katipunan is located alongside the Pinaglabanan Shrine and houses artefacts, documents, and exhibits relating to the Katipunan revolutionary organisation and the 1896 uprising. The collection includes period weapons, membership documents, and personal effects of the revolution's key figures.

The museum is a good complement to the shrine outside — it provides the historical context that the monument itself cannot convey. The exhibits are well-labelled and the scale is manageable, making it possible to absorb the key story within an hour.

A story
The Katipunan — short for Kataastaasan Kagalanggalangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan, meaning "Supreme and Most Venerable Association of the Children of the Nation" — was a secret society founded in 1892 that grew from a handful of members to a mass revolutionary movement within four years. By the time the August 1896 uprising began, it had tens of thousands of members drawn from ordinary Filipinos across Luzon.
