Tahusan Beach

Tahusan Beach is the main reason to come to Hinunangan: a stretch of fine white sand on the shore of Hinunangan Bay, facing east toward the Pacific Ocean. The water is calm within the bay, clear and warm, and the beach sees far fewer visitors than comparable beaches in more heavily promoted parts of the Philippines.

The sand is genuinely white and the water shallow close to shore, deepening gradually — good for swimming. Small outrigger boats can be hired to reach the offshore islands. There are basic facilities at the beach: a handful of simple guesthouses and eateries have operated here, though availability changes.

A story
The barangay of Tahusan gives the beach its name, and the community has largely stayed off the resort development circuit that has transformed other Philippine coastlines. As of the early 2020s, the stretch of white sand remains accessible without booking ahead or paying resort fees — an increasingly rare thing in the Philippines.
