Islands of St Peter and St Paul

The white coral islands of St Peter and St Paul lie just offshore from Hinunangan, visible from Tahusan Beach on a clear day. They are uninhabited, ringed by shallow reefs, and reachable by outrigger boat in about 20 to 30 minutes from the beach landing.

The reef around the islands supports healthy coral and a diversity of reef fish — snorkelling is the main activity. The islands themselves are small enough to walk around in minutes, with bright white coral sand beaches and no facilities. If you bring your own food and water, they make a good full-day excursion.

A story
The islands take their names from the twin apostles, a naming convention common along the Catholic Eastern Visayas coast where Spanish missionaries worked their way systematically through the islands in the 17th and 18th centuries, dedicating natural features and settlements to saints as they went.
