Cabalian Volcano

Cabalian Volcano rises east of St Bernard and San Juan, a forested volcanic mass rather than a neat tourist volcano. It is one of the defining natural features of this corner of Southern Leyte.

Do not head up casually. Trails and access are not set up like a major national park, and local guidance is essential if you want to explore beyond roadside views.

A story
Cabalian is classified as an active volcano, though it does not look like the tidy cone many travellers imagine. In Southern Leyte it is part of a rougher volcanic and landslide-prone landscape that shapes roads, rivers, and settlements.
