Khamis Mushait is served by Abha Regional Airport, which handles domestic flights from Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and other Saudi cities. The airport is about 25 km from Khamis city centre and 20 km from Abha. Several domestic carriers including Saudia and Flynas operate scheduled services.
By road, Khamis Mushait lies about 800 km southeast of Jeddah along the mountain highway — a long but scenic drive that is feasible in one day. The highway through the Asir passes through dramatic escarpment terrain. From Riyadh the distance is over 1,000 km, making it a three-day drive or a domestic flight for most travellers.
There is no rail connection to the Asir. Within the region, rental cars are the most practical way to get around; the distances between attractions and the escarpment roads require a vehicle.
