Cave Thawr sits high on Jabal Thawr south of Mecca and is revered for its association with the Hijra, when the Prophet Muhammad and Abu Bakr are said to have taken refuge there. For many Muslim visitors it is a devotional site as much as a physical destination.
The climb is demanding in heat and should not be treated casually; start early, carry water, and be realistic about fitness. The reward is the combination of religious memory, mountain air, and a broad view back toward the Meccan landscape.
