The Hill of Arafat is a low granite hill east of Mecca and one of the central places of the Hajj. It is traditionally associated with the Prophet Muhammad's Farewell Sermon, delivered during the final year of his life.
During Hajj, pilgrims gather on the plain of Arafat for the most important rite of the pilgrimage. Outside that period, the hill remains a major religious landmark for Muslim visitors.
