Cheongnamdae was once a private presidential retreat, built beside Daecheong Lake as a quieter southern counterpart to Seoul's Blue House. The villa and grounds now open as a historical site, with lakeside paths, landscaped gardens, and rooms that give a small glimpse of how South Korea's presidents withdrew from the capital.
