Donghaksa Valley is one of the easier ways to step from the Daejeon area into Gyeryongsan's forested slopes. The trail follows a stream toward Donghaksa Temple and the higher passes beyond, making it a good half-day walk when you want mountain air without committing to a full summit hike.
