Soswaewon Garden

Joseon-era scholar garden of bamboo, pavilions, stone walls, and running water

Soswaewon is a small Joseon garden built around restraint rather than display. Water runs through the site, bamboo and trees frame the paths, and the pavilions sit lightly in the landscape instead of trying to dominate it.

It is the best counterweight to Damyang's busier bamboo sights. Take your time here; the garden makes more sense when you sit, listen to the water, and let the careful placement of walls and pavilions reveal itself.
