Dorisa Temple

Early Silla temple on Naengsan, tied to the first spread of Buddhism in the kingdom.

Dorisa Temple stands on Naengsan north of central Gumi and is traditionally dated to 417, making it one of the earliest Buddhist foundations associated with the Silla kingdom. The origin story says peach and plum trees bloomed here even in winter, marking the site as auspicious.

The temple is quiet, scenic, and more historically interesting than Gumi's urban reputation suggests. It takes extra effort from the city centre, but it gives the area a second serious anchor beyond Geumosan.
